DIY Charms for Your Car

A while back, I shared a post called DIY Initial Charms.
I started this project with the intentions of making a necklace or a bracelet with them. I must have tried a 100 chains and the clasp would not fit through the tiny little hole of the charm. Lesson learned: Next time I want to make jewelry, make sure the hole is big enough for the chain to slide through!

So, I came up with a solution. I found thin leather black rope that I knew would fit the charm. I knew my friend had just got a new car and thought this would be perfect for her mirror or shifter.
I'm happy with the way the DIY Car Charm came out and here is the final product. :)
Happy Saturday :)

Another Ann Sloan/MMS Makeover: A Dog's Armoire

Happy Weekend! I'm excited to show you my latest mini makeover. :)

My Mom recently gave me a small armoire for Andre, my Yorkie, because she knows and laughs about how much clothes he has. I loved the whole idea of the little piece of furniture, but was not feeling the design of it.....or I just needed another excuse to paint and distress.

Andre

I was given a can of "Old Violet" Ann Sloan Chalk paint as a gift. (Can you even get a better gift than this?) I opened the can and was shocked to see the color I saw. I kind of panicked since it was the complete opposite color of the soft lavender I thought I would be working with.

I then remembered that this paint requires a lot of mixing and ending up with this amazing color. Phew.

This was after the first coat of paint....
Things were not looking so hot! So three coats of paint and some distressing....here is the final product.

And these are only half of his clothes :)
Happy Saturday.

Another 2 Minute DIY Art

By now, you know that I am a firm believer in working with what you already have. When I started phase 1 of my bedroom makeover, I wanted to add some color to the old dreary room. I adore this vintage Korean Airlines blanket that I purchased at a vintage store for $5 a few years ago. I usually use it as a blanket for Andre as you can see here:

I felt that this great blanket needed a change. So, with an existing frame, a pair of scissors, and an old blanket, I went to work. In a few minutes, I had this cute little frame of DIY art that added the perfect pattern of color to the room.
Happy Tuesday!

Bedroom Makeover: Phase 1

I'm so excited to share my Saturday full of revamping my dreary bedroom. My biggest challenge with this room and the rest of my small apartment is that I am a hoarder of good vintage things. Some things are just difficult to part with and I know some of them are just great to decorate with. So I pulled all the Rubbermaid totes full of great things and started organizing!
I love the days when creativity just flows and comes easy. Saturday was one of them. I only purchased a few new things (which I will share in another post) but the rest is working with my "old"
Here is my bedroom before. Tried the feminine look with different shades of pink and a ruffled comforter, but it was definitely note me.

I refuse to paint in an apartment that I know I will only be in for a few more  months. So...I just worked with the paint color that exists.

This horrific bed is finally gonzo! It was replaced with a new Sealy mattress that just feels like heaven!

Still have plenty to do but loving the way it is coming along. Stay tuned for the rest of the makeover soon!
Happy Sunday!

Living Room Favorite & Dreary Bedroom

Hi Everyone!
I wanted to share a few of my favorite things in my living room. This small space is packed with antique furniture that I just can't part with. I wake up every morning happy just to see these rustic 'ol pieces.

Now, I'm bored, once again of this darn bedroom. I just can't seem to make it work, but I have plans! I attempted the pink color scheme, but I finally came to terms that it is not my favorite color. I love a cozy cabin feel and that is where I am going next.

Bedroom now

DIY Curtains. Must say that I love the pattern, but a little to feminine for me.

I will keep ya posted on the bedroom update! Is it even worth the makeover if I know I am going to move in a few months??? I think so ;)
