Love for texture

Morning!
There is something about textures, especially stripes and polka dots, that I just adore! My goal for my bedroom was to use many textures in a similar color range. It is not as easy to do as I thought it would be....but I like the way it is looking :)

A trunk makeover

Happy Monday! I wanted to share a small project I did over the weekend with you. When I found this black military trunk a while back, I wanted to redo it right away. I never took the time, until now. I painted it with white acrylic paint. I don't like taping the edges or going by any rules...I just free hand it. I took ail polish remover to the edges and liking ow it came out. Much brighter, less dull. : )

Pretty with pillows

Morning!
I was looking around my home over the weekend and noticed that I like a "masculine" look. Everything I buy is very rustic and not very feminine. I think you can never go wrong with burlap, so why not give it a simple and pretty makeover? I purchased satin pink ribbon from AC Moore and made my own bows. I pinned them to the pillow with and the pillow went instantly...from tough to cute : )

The Repurposed Spring Look for $4

Good Morning! Yesterday's post showed the Spring update in my place. Today is about how I made it. I only spent $4 on the Easter look because I repurposed some of the stuff. I have tons of Easter decorations, but the have not made the move yet to my new place. So simplicity was this years Spring  then for me.
Some extra patterned paper I already had

Easter stickers from AC Moore for $1

I came up with the idea to use and old frame to make Easter art!

I purchased the basket in the middle from Target for $3.
I had the bird's nest and the wreath that is underneath already. : )

Having fun with stamps

I am just loving these new little stamps I bought recently. I figured it would be fun to use to make cards or a fun DIY project. School is my biggest time consumer lately and leaving me with less time to be creative. I decided to put the books down and have some five minute fun. Here is what I came up with.
Here are the stamps....I loved the font.

Had some fun with polka dot paper. Next, I am going to try some DIY art : )

A Brief Best Friend Bedroom Crash : )

Happy Tuesday! Lately, I am all about the ruffles in the bedroom. (As I'm sure you noticed in my bedroom) when one if my best friends, Katie, sent me a pic to show me her bedroom...I knew I had to share it with you all. Not only is she always stylish and a partner in crim at the Brimfield fair, but she knows how to put a bedroom together. I wish we lived closer together.....her in Massachusetts and me in NJ....but we still find little moments of decorating discussion. I love her dearly...but really loving the ruffles in her bedroom!
Sisterly love......well the two on the right are real sister : )

Love how she used different textures and colors.

Loving the pop of raspberry on the rug!
Thank you my sweet Katie for sharing your beautiful room.

2 second window tie backs with fabric remnants

Yes! The week is almost over! Too busy for words these days : )
When I found my apartment, I was instantly attracted to the natural sunlight that captures the living room. After I hung my new curtains, the light does not shine through so freely. I had the idea to use the remnants of the $11 DIY Art project a few weeks ago. I took a scissor, cut a strip of fabric, and made some simple ties around the curtain.
Tie back in my bedroom : )

AnTWEAKed is here....well almost here!

Check out AnTWEAKed on Soiledrotten!

A new obsession from Anthropologie

Happy Monday! As you can tell, Soiledrotten is getting a face lift and please be patient with me until the other pages are ready : )
I wanted to share a recent purchase that I am now obsessed with.
Anthropologie has a million amazing candles, but this one beats them all by far! It was less than $20 and  has a long burning time. I think I'm addicted!

$11 DIY art for the bathroom

Good morning everyone! It's finally the weekend and I wanted to share a small project with you. I was shopping in target last week and saw a polka dot pattern that I loved. However, it was a crib sheet. Knowing myself and my crazy ideas...I knew I could make something with it. My bathroom is decorated in gray and this would go perfectly. Here is what I came up with.
A crib sheet
A scissor
A few thumbtacks
I had to pull the fabric tighter after this pic to really smooth it out.
The small cross is just a reminder to keep the faith everyday :)
Total cost: $11
